Society & Corporate Golf at Mallow

Societies are welcome at Mallow Golf Club Monday to Friday, and on weekend afternoons from March to October, for groups of 12 or more: golf on a reserved timesheet, with food afterwards from Gorse & Grain, who run the clubhouse restaurant and bar.

A society day in the Blackwater Valley

Mallow is an 18-hole, par 72 parkland course in north Cork, about 30 minutes from Cork city on the N20. Societies get a reserved block of tee times, a course that is fair to every handicap, and a clubhouse bar and restaurant with a balcony over the 18th green for the presentation afterwards.

Choose a golf-only day or add soup and sandwiches, a main course or dinner. The pro shop looks after check-in and hire on the day, and the office confirms your booking and catering in advance.

  • Cancellations more than 14 days ahead receive a full refund of the deposit.
  • If the course is closed by weather on the day, we rearrange your date or refund the deposit in full.
  • Tuesday afternoons are reserved for ladies' competitions, so society bookings on Tuesdays are morning only.
  • Golf attire and golf shoes on the course, smart casual in the clubhouse. See the dress code.

How to book

  1. Pick a date. Weekdays are available across the year; weekend afternoons run from March to October and are in demand, so book well in advance and have an alternative date ready if your first choice is busy.
  2. Call or email the club. Phone +353 22 21145, extension 2 for the pro shop or extension 3 for the office (Deirdre), or email office@mallowgolfclub.ie with the subject line Society enquiry.
  3. Tell us what you need. Society or company name, preferred date and alternative, approximate numbers, the tee-time window you would like, your catering choice, and a contact name and phone number.
  4. Confirm with the deposit. We check availability, hold the timesheet and confirm your day in writing once the deposit is received.
  5. On the day. Check in at the pro shop before your first tee time, collect scorecards and any hire, and we take it from there.

Why groups come back

Mallow has been called Munster's hidden gem, and societies tend to find out why on the first visit. The course was laid out by J. D. Harris on rolling parkland above the River Blackwater, and it plays honestly: fairways are generous enough for the higher handicaps, while the greens, rated among the best in Munster, reward the players who can read a putt.

The short holes are the talking point. Mallow's par 3s are among the strongest in the province, and they decide more society prizes than the long holes do. Add a mature tree-lined setting, a course open from 8am to dusk, and a clubhouse where the whole group can sit down together, and you have a day that is easy to organise and easy to enjoy.

Corporate & charity days

Company outings and charity classics are welcome on the same terms as societies, with the same packages and a single invoice for the group. A scramble or team Stableford keeps the pace of play moving and gives every guest a stake in the result, and the clubhouse handles the meal and prize presentation afterwards.

Charity organisers can bring their own sponsors and raffles, and the office will help with a timesheet that suits a shotgun or staggered start. Shotgun starts are possible for larger groups on weekdays, subject to the club's fixture list. Tell us the purpose of the day when you enquire and we will shape the format around it.
